5 beginning-of-year marketing tips: what to look out for in 2023

To maximize your company’s chances of success, it is important to stay caught up on industry trends; pay attention to what consumers are noticing and, more importantly, appreciating. So, we wanted to highlight some of the recognized marketing trends that, if embraced, are sure to be beneficial to your company in 2023…

Create more interactive content

With the overwhelming amount of content that consumers are exposed to everyday, you need to find a way to stand out. How might you do this? One approach is to offer interactive content, content that invites participation from the user. This can come in many forms, including quizzes, games, polls, or surveys, among various others. Why is this effective, you may ask? It engages the user by shifting their experience. Rather than passively observing the content on their feed, they are actively engaging with it. In turn, they develop a stronger connection with the content and, therefore, the brand.

Develop omnichannel marketing

Omnichannel marketing describes how a company integrates their various touch points that customers may interact with. This business strategy seeks to provide an integrated customer experience and ensure consistency regardless of what channel a customer utilizes. For example, a customer would have a similar experience whether they were shopping online or in a brick-and-mortar store. Developing a strong omnichannel marketing strategy can separate you from the crowd and help you gain a competitive advantage.

Utilize every media platform that you can (reasonably keep up with consistently)

Social media is only increasing in importance, and it is a resource that is critical to utilize to its full extent. Having a presence on every media platform that you can will expand your reach and, in turn, help you to generate more leads. The best part is that it is not even something you need to throw a lot of money at; a lot can be accomplished solely using the free versions of the different platforms. So, you may realize the additional benefit of lower marketing costs.

Specifically, there has been an increasing relevance of Tik Tok. If you are not familiar, Tik Tok is a social media platform where users can post short (up to 3 minutes) videos for other users of the app to see. If you can, try to build your presence there this year. Don’t ignore the trend… it’s popular for a reason!

Address social issues

Talking about what consumers care about is continuously becoming more relevant. Addressing social issues and taking a stance can help to build more trusting relationships with your customers. If they feel connected to your brand, you will likely be able to develop a long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationship.

Seek out influencer/brand partnerships

Finally, try to find influencer and/or brand partnerships. The world of advertising is evolving and these partnerships are becoming some of the most influential ways to raise awareness for brands. Partner with another person or brand that has already earned the trust of their followers; if you have a voucher that potential new customers already trust, there is a much greater chance that they will adopt (or at least try) your product (or service).

You can also use this strategy even if you are B2B. For example, partnering with subject matter experts to guest write blogs or co-create content on socials with your team.

While trends are constantly evolving and keeping up with them can be challenging, do what you can to stay caught up. Capitalizing on what people are appreciating in any given moment can be what takes your brand to the next level.
